Hi everyone! I just had my Bat Mitzvah and as a gift I got The Bat Mitzvah Book. It says on this page we should tell about what we did for our Bat Mitzvah so for my Bat Mitzvah project I went with a few of my friends and we brought food, toys, and other things to a Jewish food pantry. I had done it before with my family and it was a really fun thing to do it with my friends while still being able to do something that helped others.

Okay, then...

Ali

My Bat Mitzvah is coming up soon and I need to do a Mitzvah project. Sarah, what is a food pantry?

Sarah

Hi Ali! It's so cool that you responded! Sure, so a food pantry is basically a storage house that collects things like food, school supplies... It then lets poor families come to the pantry and pick out what they need. Our pantry, is very secretive and makes sure that no one knows who uses it so that people shouldn't be embarrassed. My mom said that they do this specifically at our pantry because in Judaism it's very important not to embarrass someone.
